Jericoacoara: How to live in paradise!

It feels like we arrived yesterday in Jericoacoara, but the calendar tells us that it's actually been two month and that the day we have to leave again is moving closer way too fast. I think that's why we decided to stay one more week, saying good-bye properly takes it's time :)

As the wind is getting stronger while we are writing and there is a swell coming in later in the afternoon we really want to go for another surf... so we keep the written update short and just post some pictures, they probably say more than words anyway.

To start off with, some impressions of daily Jeri-life...

Our home – Casa do Tony
Praia de Jericoacoara

Sunset on the dune Pôr-do-Sol

beach donkeys

at the barracas: choose whatever fruit you like and enjoy the freshly made "drinkies"

Jeri street life

Sandboarding, yeah!

Nadine's birthday dinner!

Forró: a style of music and dance typical in northeastern Brazil

Ever tried a graviola?

Christmas was also a little diffent this year...

Our Christmas palm-tree

But at least Santa and his reindeer found the way to Jeri too

Merry Christmas!
... and New Years is probably the biggest party in Brazil straight after Carneval. For Reveillon (New Years in portugeues) people dress in white and after the midnight fireworks everyone walks into the sea to jump over 7 waves while making their New Year's wishes, one for each wave. We had a blast and 2013 definately had a great start.

Sitting at the dune waiting for 2013 to arrive!

You might ask yourself, what we do all day long apart from enjoying this little fishing village and chilling out in our hammocks - well, we go surfing, A LOT of surfing! Windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing...

Merry Christmas again ;)

Hang loose!

The donkey was obviously completely unimpressed by our performance

Apart from windsurfing and surfing we also made some trips to the close-by lagoons: Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Paraiso and it definately deserves the name Paradise-lagoon!

We also made a little quad-bike excursion to Tatajuba, a nearby fishing village. If you want to know how to sink a quad-bike in a river feel free to contact me! I will be happy to explain it to you in detail...

On the left: that's a ferry...
In the middle: ... that's a quad-bike that fell off the ferry.

Another higlight of our stay here was the concert of Donavon Frankenreiter in Fortaleza. Who would mind a 10 hour car ride to see him live at the beach giving an acoustic concert for free?! Well, we didn't!
... and every place feels like a familiar town, and now we're freeeeeeeee, freeeeeee!!!

Living in a place like Jeri can be really hard and exhausting - walking on white sand all day, surfing in 28°C warm water, bright sunshine every day, live concerts, dancing forró, sinking quad-bikes, etc. - so we always tried to strengthen us with proper food.

Men at work! Grill it...
... cook it ...
... eat it!!!! The best red snapper we ever had!
It's gonna be hard to say good-bye to this place, but the journey continues... We might be back though for another windsurfing session when the season starts again!

Bye bye Jeri....
