Imagine a landscape you have seen on the pictures "Curiosity" took from Mars, put some desertic vegetation and a big massive lake filled with water from the Anden glaciers in it and then add some (or actually a lot of) wind - and welcome to Cuesta del Viento! Right next to the lake is a little hostel and a surf-station owned by Manú, a kite- and windsurf addict from San Juan. Well, do you need any more information? :) We didn't! We were just happy to be right there!
But first things first: We arrived at Rodeo and got off the bus in the center of town. We didn't know that our perfect little hide-out "Hostel Lamaral" was soooo far away, so we started walking with our 23kg backpacks and 40°C in the blazing sun. After about an hour and a half walking in the middle of nowhere a car stopped and this guy hopped out of the car. He said he was Manú and gave us a ride for the last 500 meters to the hostel ;)
The mountains, the landscape and the lake were sooo beautiful. There was nothing and more of nothing – awesome. So we decided to go for a surf right away.
The view of the mountains, the lake and the snowcapped andes was just great while trying to manage the 30 knots of wind.
Unfortunately after 6 days in this magical place we had to leave again…
And just one more thing, for all the cooks out there, here's a really good receipt: omelets filled with spinach and toped with sauce bolognese. Mmmmmmmhhhh :-)
